The First Bake of Christmas

My first "Bake of Christmas" is... Peanut butter and Chocolate squares, a perfect treat to share around with family in front of the TV! I got this recipe from Nigella Lawson's How to be a Domestic Goddess, a book that I would really recommend to anyone who loves to bake! Another thing that you could use these tasty squares for is presents! With Christmas is drawing near if you, like me, are not all that organised (Oh god...) then you might be starting to panic (just a little) about what your're going to give everyone! If you wrap a few of these with some tissue paper and ribbon then they can make a really simple, but beautiful gift! Only 19 days till Christmas! Are you exited yet?

Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip

Ingredients:
  • 50g Dark Muscavado Sugar
  • 200g Icing Sugar
  • 50g Unsalted Butter
  • 200g Smooth Peanut Butter
For the Topping:
  • 200g Milk Chocolate
  • 100g Plain Chocolate
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter
Method:
Put all the ingredients for the base into the bowl of your electric mixer and beat until smooth (alternatively you could do this with a wooden spoon in a regular bowl). Press the dough into a brownie tin, (try and get it as smooth as possible) then set aside. Next melt the chocolates and butter in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water then spread over the base, I use a fork to add texture to the topping but its up to you, finally put into the fridge until the topping has set. Slice into small squares and eat all at once!! Only joking... they keep well in an airtight container!  xxxx
